Founder Risk Diagnostic
A structured assessment of the risks most founders cannot see until it is too late to address them cheaply.
Why it exists
When examining startup failures, there is a tendency to look for a single cause, a decision to point to, a person to hold responsible. The usual review is superficial: the market was wrong, the timing was off, the money ran out. Look closer, and the pattern rarely holds. Failure is rarely one decision. It is a handful of risks, most of them masked, that build quietly and compound until the business can no longer absorb them.
These risks go unnoticed for predictable reasons. Some are ignored because naming them feels like doubting the plan. Some are assumed to resolve themselves, because most days they seem to. Others are simply difficult to isolate, buried under everything else happening at once, not unlike an engine quietly losing efficiency. Nothing fails outright. It just runs a little worse each month, until one day it does not run at all, and by then the cause is several layers deep.
Most founders are far more comfortable examining their business than examining themselves. But the risks that compound quietest are usually personal ones: unresolved co-founder expectations, cash-flow assumptions no one has pressure-tested, cultural blind spots, or a founder running past the point of sustainable judgment. The Founder Risk Diagnostic exists because these risks rarely surface in a standard business review. They require looking directly at the founder, not just the venture.
Who it is for
Built from Before You Fail and the Six Pillars framework, the diagnostic is designed for the moments when the stakes are about to rise: a pre-launch decision, a co-founder relationship forming, a first funding round, a growth plateau, investor due diligence, or early signs of founder strain that no one has named yet.
What we assess
The engagement examines personal and family readiness, market validation, financial discipline, co-founder and team alignment, governance and decision readiness, and founder sustainability, the six dimensions where masked risk most often hides. It combines a founder questionnaire, a founder interview, and a review of the business concept, team structure, market testing status, and cash-flow assumptions.
What you receive
Clients leave with a Founder Risk and Readiness Brief, a Six Pillars Risk Map, and a Priority Action Brief naming the two or three risks most likely to become expensive if left unaddressed. Where the findings point to a deeper co-founder issue, a capital readiness question, or a broader business constraint, the recommended next step may be a Co-Founder and Team Alignment Review, an Investor Readiness Diagnostic, or a Strategic Business Triage™ Diagnostic.
This is a paid, individual diagnostic, distinct from the free Founder Risk Checklist and the group-delivered Founder Readiness Workshop. It is built for founders who want a serious, structured read of their own risk, not encouragement.
Proof
Before You Fail is built from Kamel's own decades of entrepreneurship, advisory experience, and ventures, some successful, some not. The risks this diagnostic identifies come from direct experience, not only from a framework.
